What is a split system?

How does a split system work?

A split system is made up of two units — a wall-mounted indoor head and an outdoor compressor — connected by refrigerant piping run through a small hole in the wall. The indoor unit blows conditioned air directly into the room with no ductwork required.

All systems we stock are reverse-cycle, meaning they heat and cool. One unit covers your summer and your winter.

Modern units use inverter technology to vary compressor speed continuously. They ramp up fast to reach temperature, then dial back to maintain it quietly — using far less power than older fixed-speed units.
